Back in 1972, shipowner Ted Arison set out to re-invent the concept of a cruise holiday.
He created Carnival to:
- Compete directly against the successful land resorts of Florida and the Caribbean and to bring cruising in line with the requirements of this market.
- Structure the Carnival product as an alternative family holiday at sea, casual and informal, appealing to all generations within an affordable budget.
- Prove that a cruise can be as exciting and vibrant as a resort holiday.
Today, Carnival's fleet of modern superliners offer all the attractions, entertainment, sports, activities and shops one would find in a top class holiday complex, enabling guests to enjoy the resorts of the Caribbean without every leaving behind that familiar brand of great American hospitality.
The overwhelming success of the Carnival concept has also proved that life onboard ship can be just as exciting as the destinations visited during the cruise, with the added attraction that nearly everthing - food, parties, shows, activities and entertainment is included in the initial cruise price, making life on board extremely inexpensive and flexible.
FLOATING RESORTS IN EVERY WAY
Carnival's new generation of superliners are true floating resorts in every way.
Each embodies sophisticated modern design, spacious cabins and public areas, plus unique vibrant interior decor - including theme lounges that change mood as they change colour - through deceptive and subtle use of miles of computerised neon and original modern art.
Carnival's showlounges provide the ideal setting for show-stopping Las Vegas-style revues, which are performed each evening at sea. For those who prefer entertaining themselves, there's an wide choice of bars, lounges, an electrifying discotheque and the largest full casino afloat.
The spaciousness extends to cabins, WITH accommodation for up to five persons with private facilities, air-conditioning, tv, radio and telephone. Carnival's new ships also feature demi-suites with balconies and luxurious suites.
