CARNIVAL GLORY
Port Canaveral's largest cruise ship
Carnival's 110,000-ton Carnival Glory became the newest and largest cruise ship to be based at Port Canaveral when she began her year-round seven-day Caribbean service from that port on July 19, 2003.
Buiult at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the
2,974-passenger Carnival Glory represented a 40 per cent capacity increase over
the 2,124-passenger Carnival Pride, which debuted the line's first seven-day cruise schedule from Port Canaveral in 2002. Carnival Pride will be redeployed to another homeport.
Among the largest passenger vessels ever constructed, the 952-foot-long
Carnival Glory provided an exciting cruise option with 14 passenger decks housing 22 bars and lounges, a 15,000-square-foot health club, four swimming pools and three restaurants, including an upscale
"steakhouse-style" supper club.
She also features numerous "family-friendly" amenities, including an
expansive 3,300-square-foot play area and family recreation area featuring a
teen club and video game room, perfect for a ship based year-round at Port
Canaveral, which typically attracts a higher concentration of families because of its proximity to Central Florida attractions.
Variety of 'Fun Ship' amenities
A true "floating resort," Carnival Glory offers guests a wide range of dining, dancing and entertainment options, as well as an Internet cafe, jogging track,
conference center and a "boulevard" of shops and boutiques.
Additionally, approximately 60 percent of the vessel's 1,487 staterooms offer an ocean view with 60 percent of those featuring private balconies.
As well as the supper club, dining options aboard Carnival Glory include a
pair of two-level full-service restaurants, an expansive two-level poolside eatery offering casual alternatives for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a patisserie and a sushi bar. Complimentary 24-hour pizza, ice cream and stateroom service will be available, as well.
