A Triumph in the making
Carnival Cruise Lines' 102,000-ton, 2,758-passenger Carnival Triumph has a number of new features that represent the culmination of Carnival's two-decade-long
evolutionary - and revolutionary - shipbuilding program.
Changes are most clearly apparent on Carnival Triumph's expansive
Lido Deck - an open-air recreation and entertainment complex where guests
relax poolside. They include more open space for deck chairs than any other
Carnival ship, Continent and New World pools fore and aft bordered by
"wading" areas a few inches deep, and a larger swimming area created by
eliminating the swim-up bars found on sister ship, Carnival Destiny.
Flowing fountains and statues crafted by South Florida sculptor Susana Holt add elegant new touches to the pool area, as does a graceful, winding staircase leading to upper decks.
The big stage adjacent to the main Continent pool is even bigger than the one on Carnival Destiny, and it has been reconfigured to allow more space for guests at deck parties, and to make the pool deck more open and visually appealing. Another modification is the placement of a small performance stage aft on Lido Deck near the New World pool.
Joe Farcus, interior architect for Carnival's entire "Fun Ship" fleet, says: Many of the enhancements on Carnival Triumph were made with the goal of creating a unique on-board vacation experience. We have made changes to the lounges and bars throughout the ship which provide guests with a wide choice of entertainment venues, from dance clubs to intimate gathering places."
One example is the Oxford Bar, a warm, walnut-paneled lounge decorated to resemble a traditional British library, which has been designed with a large dance floor and a layout that offers guests easy access to its club-like atmosphere.
On the World's Way promenade, a new gathering place was created by arranging the furniture near the Vienna Cafe in a configuration that opens it up to the adjacent promenade, along with an associated seating area surrounding a CD player piano. This is an intimate setting where guests can enjoy specialty coffees and pastries while listening to relaxing live or preprogrammed piano music.
For guests of a more energetic bent, a live performer supplies upbeat music just down the promenade from the Vienna Cafe, outside the World's Bar, from a lighted stage with its own sound system.
The ship also features cellular phone service, an Internet cafe, and wireless access in virtually all public rooms and areas.
Carnival Triumph offers a wide variety of spacious accommodations, including spectacular suites and a wide selection of staterooms offering dramatic ocean views from private balconies Ð ideal for scenic cruising. All accommodations feature the new "Carnival Comfort Bed" sleep system featuring plush mattresses, luxurious duvets, and high quality pillows and linens.
All Carnival ships feature the line's top-rated Camp Carnival children's programme, as well as Club O2, created in partnership with Coca-Cola, which offers specialised activities and facilities for teens.
