DFDS Seaways gets pet friendly

Have you ever gone on holiday and worried about how your pet is doing at the boarding kennel? Are they behaving for the friend who has offered to look after them? Or will your kids remember to walk them while you're away? It might just be easier, cheaper and more fun to take them on holiday with you.

Now you can take your faithful four legged friend on holiday with DFDS Seaways, thanks to the DEFRA Pet Travel Scheme (PETS). Animals covered under DFDS Seaways' DEFRA accreditation include dogs, cats and ferrets; however DFDS Seaways will allow you to travel with other pets including rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, mice, rats and tortoises.

Animals covered under DFDS Seaways' DEFRA accreditation include dogs, cats and ferrets; however DFDS Seaways will allow you to travel with other pets including rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, mice, rats and tortoises.

One of the key advantages of the scheme is that your pet won't need to be quarantined on your return to the UK.

DFDS Seaways are also extending their pet travel scheme to cover both their Newcastle-Amsterdam and Harwich-Esbjerg routes, providing direct access into Northern Europe, Scandinavia and beyond.

Your pets can travel with you when you bring your own vehicle including car, caravan or campervan. With DFDS Seaways, your holiday starts the moment you step onboard and this also applies for your furry friend, who stay in your vehicle or alternatively in the onboard kennels (kennels available on Newcastle-Amsterdam route only). While the human passengers can enjoy the shops, restaurants, bars and live entertainment as they sail. There's also a play area for the children, and in the school holidays, a Pirates' Club with plenty of fun activities and games.

With DFDS Seaways holidaying in Europe has never been easier, and now that you don't have to worry about pet-care, the hardest thing to do is picking where you want to go.

Pet travel is available from only £19 one way and £38 return on both DFDS Seaways' routes. Pets must be booked in advance and they must satisfy the DEFRA Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) criteria. Pets can be booked by calling 0871 882 0885; they cannot be booked online.
