Enter Veendam number 4

Holland America Line's luxury liner, Veendam, which entered service in May 1996, was officially launched on June 24, 1995, at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Italy.

The 55,000-ton, 1,266 passenger vessel is fourth in the 121-year history of the company to bear the name Veendam, and is a sister ship for Statendam, Maasdam and Ryndam.

She was delivered in April, 1996, and the following month began her inaugural programme of alternate 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises.

The Veendam bears all the hallmarks of Holland America Line's "Tradition of Excellence", including

  • A "tipping not required - and not expected" policy
  • Extra-large staterooms
  • Beautiful fresh flower arrangements and priceless antiques that grace public areas
  • Table settings of Rosenthal crystal, fine linen and silver service
  • Complimentary hot hors d'oeuvres served before dinner

Individual features of the ship include a tall glass sculpture as the centrepiece to its three deck atrium, a magnificent challenge themed after the painter Rubens, a selection of comfortable and spacious lounges and a state-of-the-art Ocean spa health and fitness centre.
