Norwegian Star underwent a multimillion-dollar refurbishment at San Francisco Dry Dock in 2004.
The 91,000-ton superliner emerged with a 10,000-square-foot casino, along with a steak house and new hull artwork. The casino replaced the Dazzles Nightclub on Deck 6.
In addition to standard games, the Star Club Casino provides unusual offerings such as Pai-Gow Poker, Pai-Gow Tiles and a big baccarat table Ð which are available only by special request prior to sailing.
Additionally, a new electronic player tracking system logs each passenger's play and offer rewards based on earnings, including on-board amenities, account credits, reduced rates for future cruises and -- if the level of play is high enough - a free cruise.
The Teen Club on Deck 7 was transformed into the Pearl Martini Lounge and the adjoining Karaoke Circus became the Carousel Bar and Night Club. The Teen Club, along with the Video Arcade, moved to Deck 12 aft in the Market Cafe. The space housing the Video Arcade became an expanded gym area for the Barong Fitness Center.
