Ocean VillageCruising for the
young and active

Ocean Village, the casual cruising concept, tries to escape the cruising mould, and even calls its voyages holidays.

But whichever way you look at it, guests board a very nice ship and go cruising around either the Mediterranean in our summer or the Caribbean in the winter.

Its slogan is See More, Do More, Be More, catering for those thrill-seeking couples that like to wind-down by mixing their action-packed holidays with a lie by the pool. Activities on offer include mountain biking (the ship carries its own fleet of bikes ready for trips ashore), abseiling, jet skiing, jeep safaris, snorkelling and even quad biking.

It's also a family environment. The age range is from 21 to 40 and young children are especially welcome. And, as with everything to do with P&O, it is targeted at the Brits.

The relaxed, contemporary atmosphere puts the emphasis on informality, health and well-being. Md Nick Lighton says: "People are living younger, longer. They seek stimulating experiences and demand choice in everything they do - holidays are no exception!"

He adds: "On-board/on-shore activity holidays allow people to chill out and de-stress any way they want to, whether with their partner, in a group or by having more time to themselves."
