GRAND PRINCESS Cruising in the fun zone
Families cruising on Grand Princess will find state-of-the-art on-board facilities and activities to cater for children of all ages.
"Family Fun Fares" also offer substantial savings on child fares, and Princess has also reduced the minimum age for children travelling on all its ships from 18 months to 12 months.
THE FUN ZONE (children aged 2 to 12)
- Grand Princess features two imaginatively designed areas for children and teens. The Fun Zone for toddlers and younger children (over two years) includes a two-storey castle, ball jump and dolls house, while outside a water slide down a whale's tail ends in a whale-shaped pool. The Fun Zone also includes bathroom facilities fitted with fixtures especially for children.
THE OFF LIMITS CLUB (12-17 year olds)
- The two-storey Off Limits club for under-18s includes a video wall, CD jukebox, dance floor and various games and activity areas. There is also a section of deck space set aside for teenagers, which includes a Jacuzzi and table tennis.
Grand Princess also features a virtual reality centre offering a thrilling Voyage of Discovery under-sea simulator ride, complete with sound and motion effects. The centre also features other video and CD-Rom rides on an underwater theme, as well as a soft drinks bar and a Cyberstore, where virtual reality toys and gadgets can be purchased.
ACTIVITY PROGRAMMES
- During the cruise, events and activities keep children occupied with pool games, shipboard Olympics, cartoons, films, coke-tail parties, discos, talent contests, visits to the ship's bridge, karaoke, fancy dress competitions and many others. All these are fully supervised by trained staff, allowing parents to relax, secure in the knowledge that their children are safe and well looked after.
Other activities for younger passengers iclude a pizza party, so children can enjoy a meal without their parents. Children's television such as Nickelodeon is also transmitted to their cabins and, as a special treat, two different cookies are delivered to their cabin before bedtime each evening.
BABYSITTING
- Group babysitting in the children's centres on board Grand Princess is now available until 1 am allowing parents the freedom to enjoy the wide range of facilities and entertainment on board the ship.
All Princess Cruises' ships with children's centres which previosuly offered babysitting until midnight or 10pm have extended this service until 1am. Baby sitting is also offered between 9am and 5pm while the ship is in port.
ADVENTURES ASHORE
- The Adventures Ashore programme offers shore tours to cater for the younger explorer. Princess Cays, the line's own private haven in the Bahamas, houses Pelican Perch, a specially-designed play area where children can explore a pirate ship playground, complete with replica galleon, clatter bridge and sand pit. Once again this area is fully supervised by qualified staff.
SAVINGS ON CHILD FARES
- Family Fun Fares mean that a child under 12 years can travel in the same cabin as two adults on a Grand Princess Caribbean Cruise for just £99 - and a second child can share for just £199, including return transatlantic flights.
Activities for children are at no additional cost. In-port babysitting and babysitting after 10pm is at a rate of $4 per hour, per child. Similar children's and teenagers' centres, together with activity programmes tailored to children are available aboard other Grand Class ships Sun Princess and Dawn Princess.
