ROYAL PRINCESS The intimate alternative sets sail
Royal Princess is the newest addition to the Princess fleet, setting sail on her maiden voyage from Barcelona on April 19, 2007.
The 710-passenger vessel debuts with a series of unique Elite Mediterranean cruises that feature a variety of new itineraries and unique ports. Royal Princess' first Mediterranean Interlude voyage features calls in Marseille, Florence/Pisa, Elba, Palermo, and Mallorca.
The 30,000-ton Royal Princess is the intimately sized sister vessel to the line's popular Tahitian Princess and Pacific Princess. Her christening ceremony will take place on June 14 in the picturesque Italian port of Portofino.
The 710-passenger ship originally entered service in 2001 as a Renaissance vessel (named R8) berfore becoiming Swan Hellenic's Minerva II.
After a drydock to transform the ship into a "princess", Royal Princess now joins her sisters to give passengers a cruising environment with all the hallmarks of choice for which Princess is known, including a variety of dining and entertainment options and a large number of cabins with private balconies.
Royal Princess offers globetrotters the opportunity to add some interesting new destinations to their travels with a series of 12-day Elite Mediterranean cruises to a variety of unusual destinations. These five unique new itineraries, including Princess' first sailings to the Holy Land in more than five years, also feature the new ports of Ravenna, Italy; Split, Croatia; Kotor, Montenegro; and Canakkale (for Troy), Turkey - all UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Other unique destinations include Corsica and Sardinia, and the Crimean coast.
The ship offers many of Princess' signature dining options, including the Sabatini's trattoria and Sterling Steakhouse. Other hallmark Princess features added to the vessel include the Lotus Spa, Grand Casino and 24-hour room service, including Ultimate Balcony dining. Suite passengers will enjoy fully renovated accommodations featuring fresh décor and new furnishings.
