Sapphire sparkles in Seattle
Nancy Murkowski, the First Lady of Alaska, became the godmother of the new 116,000-ton Sapphire Princessin an elegant ceremony in the port of Seattle in June 2004.
A traditional ceremony kicked off an evening of festivities, with an exhibition of the world's largest carved sapphire, the Millennium Sapphire, adding extra "sparkle".
The 2,670-passenger Sapphire Princes, which follows in the wake of sister ship Diamond Princess, also summer based in Seattle, incorporates an abundance of balcony cabins, flexibility in dining and entertainment options, and a variety of intimate spaces.
She offers passengers a unique dining programme with four themed dining rooms, a new concierge service, the Princess-operated Lotus Spa, the fleet's largest Internet Cafe, and a new high-tech entertainment lounge, Club Fusion.
