New York Serenade

May 21, 2003 - Serenade of the Seas, arriving in July 2003,scored a double first by sailing an inaugural season from New York City to Canada.

>The 90,090-ton Serenade was the third in RCCL's Radiance-class series of ships, which combine an elegant, yacht-like design with many oinnovative amenities and onboard programmes.

She was designed to bring the sea, sun and coastal scenery indoors with nearly three acres of exterior glass - including floor-to-ceiling windows in most lounges and public areas; the line's highest percentage of balcony staterooms; and glass elevators facing the ocean.

There is an impressive span of activities including

  • Rock-climbing wall
  • Sports deck with golf simulator
  • nine-hole miniature golf course and basketball court
  • billiards room with gyroscopic pool tables
  • ShipShape Fitness Center and Spa
  • Adults-only Solarium with retractable glass canopy
  • Expansive Adventure Ocean facilities for kids ages 3-17

Guests have a variety of dining venues to choose from, including the two-storey, traditional main dining room; two casual eateries, the Windjammer Cafe and Seaview Cafe; and two speciality restaurants, Chops Grille steakhouse and Portofino. Evening entertainment includes a Las Vegas-style casino, full-scale production shows, and a range of performers and musicians appearing in multiple bars and lounges throughout the ship.
