Perfect Vision
April 1998: Royal Caribbean's 78,491-ton Vision of the Seas arrived, the last of six Vision Class superliners launched by RCI over three years.
Facilities on this state-of-the-art cruise ship include
- 1,000 cabins with 593 offering ocean-views (229 of which feature private balconies)
- Extensive use of glass within her design to including: floor-to-ceiling windows in many public areas, 360 degree views from the Viking Crown Lounge and an indoor/outdoor pool area with a glass retractable sliding roof.
- Full service Solarium, spa and fitness centre over two levels
- Art collection including paintings, sculptures and textiles from a variety of artists from around the world
Vision of the Seas sailed through stormy seas from the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in St Nazaire, France, into Southampton on Saturday April 18, and from April 24-28 hosted a series of inaugural events for the UK travel industry and consumers. She made her maiden voyage - a four-night roundtrip Southampton cruise, calling at Amsterdam and Guernsey.
