SeaDream still tops with Berlitz

November 6, 2009 - SeaDream Yacht Club has received yet another dramatic accolade from the world's leading guidebook for cruise buyers and cruise sellers - the Berlitz Guide to Ocean Cruising and Cruise Ships.

Since SeaDream's founding in late 2001 it has been honoured annually by this publication.

The top three sea-going passenger vessels in the world according to the 2010 edition of the Berlitz Guide are SeaDream I, SeaDream II (and scoring a bit higher) Europa, a cruise ship operating primarily for the German speaking market.

SeaDream I and II rated five stars and topped ten contenders in the "boutique ships" (50 to 200 passengers) category. By doing so it outscored cruise vessels of Seabourn Cruise Line, Silversea Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Sea Cloud and also the highly touted Grill Class of Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria.

The 2010 Guide named SeaDream I and II as the tops in its Five Star Club and listed them as being "Crme de la Crme".

In the guidebook, editor Douglas Ward says: "There really is no best cruise line in the world, or best cruise ship - only the ship and cruise that is right for you. After all, it's the overall enjoyment of a cruise as a vacation that's really important. Therefore, different criteria are applied to ships of different sizes, styles and market segments throughout the world (people of different nationalities seek different things in their vacations)."

Commenting on this accomplishment, Ian Buckeridge, SeaDream's UK Senior Director, said: "We are delighted that we have been rated so spectacularly by The Berlitz Guide and its editor. We thank him and the publishers, and in so doing wish it be known that our achievement is a total team effort. Not only are our shipboard officers and staff responsible for this, but also our colleagues on land all over the world who should be saluted for their extraordinary work."

Douglas Ward's objective evaluations of passenger vessels come from predetermined criteria that include scores for the quality of the vessel, its accommodations, cuisine, service, entertainment and overall cruise experience.
