Moliere joins SeaFrance fleet
October 1, 2008 - SeaFrance today introduced its latest superferry,
the SeaFrance Moliere, into full car ferry mode.
The new ship, named after the celebrated French playwright, gives the
Dover-Calais operator increased fleet capacity while continuing to reflect
the high quality, continental atmosphere offered on board.
The arrival of the SeaFrance Moliere completes the regeneration of the
fleet which, from today, offers 15 daily return crossings with all sailings
taking place on superferries, reinforcing the company's position as a major
cross-Channel carrier.
SeaFrance Moliere has been refitted at Dunkirk shipyard, with the focus of
the refit being on the ship's manoeuverability, enabling it to operate
easily in the docks at Dover and Calais. Also key to the work was the
creation of stylish passenger areas.
Built in 2002 and with a top speed of 27.1 knots, she replaces the
SeaFrance Renoir and the SeaFrance Manet and more than doubles the capacity
of the services currently operated by these ships.
Managing Director Robin Wilkins said: "We are extremely excited about the
introduction of the SeaFrance Moliere into full service. This quality
addition to our fleet will increase our appeal and capacity, and further
consolidate our position in the cross-Channel market."
SeaFrance fares for a car and up to five passengers start from just
£25 each way online for any duration and from £25 return for a
day trip.
