The Silversea Experience

Suites get interactive comforts

Silversea Cruises' interactive television system aboard its ships enabling guests to view on-demand movies for a nominal fee, send and receive e-mails, and book shore excursions in their suites.

Says Silversea's Rick Kneale: "Most of our guests have access to on-demand movies in their homes, so this is a logical enhancement of the Silversea in-suite experience."

The new viewing choices include, for a smalll fee, popular movies, classics from film and television, as well as personal enrichment programmes. The current in-suite television line-up of movies, cable news, feature programs and documentaries will continue to be shown on a complimentary basis.

With the interactive television system, guests can easily send and receive e-mails from their suite and peruse shore excursion information 24 hours a day. Complete descriptions of ports and tours are provided for guests to review, at their leisure, before making their selections. Instead of visiting the tour desk, all a guest needs to do is press a few buttons on the remote control to create a personalized program of exciting and enriching adventures ashore.
