SILVER SPIRITSilversea Cruises

First guests join the latest in
a line of Silversea Cruises luxury

December 23, 2009 - Silversea Cruises' newest ship, Silver Spirit, today welcomed guests for the first time.

They embarked for her maiden voyage - an 11-day Holiday Spirit cruise departing from Barcelona tomorrow and concluding in Lisbon after visiting Malaga, Gibraltar, Cadiz, Casablanca and Tangier.

Silver Spirit of Sillversea CruisesWith 270 all ocean-view suites, the 36,000-ton Silver Spirit maintains the line's reputation for intimate yet spacious ships and increases the number of accommodations in the most popular suite categories.

She features more of the quick-to-sell-out Silver Suites, with a total of 26, and more Veranda Suites, 222. There are also six Grand Suites and two Owner's Suites. All but 12 suites have verandas.

The suites are the largest in the fleet - 95 per cent featuring a private veranda - and with one of the highest space-to-guest ratios at sea today, 67, providing 6,700 cubic feet of space per guest.

The onboard decor lends a sophisticated 1930s Art Deco ambience to the public spaces, highlights of which include an indoor/outdoor spa measuring no less than 8,300 square feet (770 square metres), three whirlpools (two adjacent to outdoor pool, one in spa area), enriching performances in The Show Lounge and a choice of six dining venues including Seishin, a Japanese restaurant, and the innovative Stars Supper Club, featuring live music, dancing and nightclub-style entertainment.

She also features those dining venues that have become favourites of Silversea guests, such as The Restaurant, the elegant main dining room; The Wine Restaurant, where the menu celebrates the most rarefied vintages; and the Pool Grill, offering casual poolside dining.

"The delivery of Silver Spirit is an important milestoneand represents our commitment to the development of the Silversea brand," said Amerigo Perasso, Silversea's president. "As guests step aboard Silver Spirit, they will find a ship that continues our legacy of innovation, offering all our signature luxury amenities, plus more space, more dining options, and more unique features.

"Although Silver Spirit is larger than her sister ships, she has the same intimate feel, relaxed ambiance, and sense of camaraderie so treasured by our international clientele."
