"The Dublin-Holyhead route is a strategically important route for us and the Stena Adventurer reinforces the route's position as a key link between the UK and Ireland," says Gunnar Blomdahl, managing director of Stena Line.
The launch of Stena Adventurer followed the arrival sister ship Stena Britannica on the Harwich - Hook of Holland route at the end of March.
She carries 1,500 passengers and offers customers first class on-board facilities including cinema, casino, restaurants, lounges and children's play areas. With 3,400 lane metres, 148 luxury cabins and a speed of 22 knots, the 211-metre vessel will be the longest ship ever to sail on the Irish Sea.
The ship operates in tandem with the HSS Stena Explorer and the combination of ships offers customers increased flexibility and service on the Dublin Bay-Holyhead routes.
Stena is making strategic investments across its pan-European route network to achieve long-term profitability and the company is on track to return to profit at the end of 2003.
