Hotel de Ville
VISITORS to Calais cannot fail to notice the beautiful tower of the town hall, the Hotel de Ville, which dominates its surroundings.
The clock tower rises to a height of 75 metres (250 ft) and makes a marvellous sight when floodlit at night.
The Hotel de Ville was built between 1911 and 1925 in the Neo-Flemish style of the 15th Century and features superb stained-glass windows depicting the English king Edward III's siege of the town as well as its liberation by the Duke of Guise in 1558.
