The inside story
CITE EUROPE, the shopping centre near the Tunnel entrance, is to get a futuristic new attraction. Plans have been announced for a virtual reality exhibition, The Transparent Man, which will allow you to explore inside the human body.
This major tourist development is set to open with the very latest information technology enabling you to go on a remarkable tour of the body and its vital organs.
Entry tickets will describe people not as visitors but as travellers because they will be embarking on a journey of discovery - and the starting point is a washroom with 25 hand basins! There the groups of travellers will be asked to wash their hands since hygiene is essential for a healthy life and for any medical experiment.
Then the group moves into a dark room where the image of a doctor welcomes you and proceeds to describe some of the great medical discoveries over the ages. As he talks his face

gradually becomes bigger and bigger until eventually the travellers feel themselves moving into his head through one of his eyes. The journey has begun.
First stop is the brain, which demonstrates its powers to control the senses.
After that, you travel slowly along the blood stream through the chest and into the heart where you discover its inner secrets.
Finally your exploration of The Transparent Man ends when you exit through the pores of his skin into a giant forest of hair.
The exhibition will cost £4 million to create and the target is to attract between 400,000 and 500,000 travellers a year. Organisers believe this is a viable figure, given that 7,500,000 people live within 90 minutes' travel of Calais and 50,000,000 within two hours.
