The new Bondi ... in Ireland
March 28, 2008 - It seems Ireland's north-west coast – and particularly Bundoran beach in Donegal – is the new rival to Bondi for surfers.
According to those "in the know", there are many world-class reef and beach breaks within five kilometres of Bundoran and waves in excess of 15 metres high have been experienced and ridden at Mullaghmore Head in the last few weeks.
The best way for surfers and their gear to reach Ireland's north-west is to pack up the car, tie the boards on the roof and take an Irish Ferries' crossing from Holyhead to Dublin. Prices start from as little as £148 for a return crossing for car and driver; additional passengers pay £40 return.

Don't see red in Dublin, use the new Port Tunnel
Holidaymakers planning a self-drive holiday to Ireland can now save lots of time by travelling via Dublin Port and using the new tunnel which links direct to the M50 motorway.
The saving in terms of time - and frustration - is considerable, bearing in
mind the fact that to reach the M50 via the traditional route involves more
than 30 sets of traffic lights.
Says Declan Mescall, head of passenger sales for Irish Ferries: "In the past it could take as long as an hour to cross the city from Dublin port, a frustrating hold up for those heading across the country. By using the tunnel, the same journey takes around six minutes."
Toll charges for cars range between 3Euros and 12Euros dependent on time travelling.
