Odyssey hull arrives in Genoa
May 30, 2008 - The sleek and streamlined steel hull destined to become the ultra-luxury cruising yacht Seabourn Odyssey has arrived at T.Mariotti's quay in Genoa, Italy,
The hull, built in San Giorgio di Nogaro in the Gulf of Venice, was towed southward through the Adriatic, around the heel and up the coast of Italy to the shipyard, where blocks of the yacht's superstructure have been under construction while the hull was being completed.
Final construction and fitting out of the vessel will be performed over the next year in time for the vessel's launch in June 2009.

May 8, 2008 - Seabourn's 2009-10 Yachting Collection details 143 voyages, visiting over 220 ports in 66 countries on five continents during the 15-month period.
Ports which are new for Seabourn, or which it yachts have not visited in several years, include St Raphael, Bandol and Antibes on the French Riviera; Opatija and Split in Croatia; Brindisi, Bari, and Trieste, Italy and Lundy Island and the Isles of Scilly in the United Kingdom.
Seabourn Odyssey's World Cruise, in early 2010, will also add areas in the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand that have been missing from Seabourn's itineraries in recent years. Returns to Bali, Borneo and a maiden visit to Sihanoukville, Cambodia will add novelty in the Asian portion of the voyage.

Keel laid for Seabourn Odyssey
July 12, 2007 - The keel of Seabourn's new luxury $250 million flagship, Seabourn Odyssey, has been laid in a special ceremony in San Giorgio di Nogaro, Italy.
Pamela Conover, Seabourn's president, placed an un-circulated 2007 US Silver Eagle dollar coin in the keel as the first section of the hull was joined to it.
Marco Bisagno, president of shipbuilders T. Mariotti, who specialise in the construction of intimate cruising vessels and ultra-luxury mega yachts, contributed a newly minted Italian one-Euro coin to complete the ceremony.

Bravery medal for Seabourn officer
May 21, 2007 - The Seabourn security officer who fought off pirates with a high-pressure hose and hi-tech sonic boom has received the Queen's Gallantry Medal - Britain's third highest civilian bravery award.
Michael Groves, a 41-year-old ex-policeman from the UK, was working on Seabourn Spirit in November, 2005, as it cruised the Indian Ocean 100 miles east of Somalia when a dozen Somalis in two boats opened fire on the ship with rocket launchers and machine guns.
As the raiders opened fire, Mr Groves unreeled the hose and returned fire with a jet of water, forcing them to retreat. Asked what was going through his mind, Mr Groves joked: "Almost a couple of bullets."
