First-timers lead bookings surge
February 3, 2010 - The Yachts of Seabourn experienced a record number of bookings in the first month of 2010, with a surge in first-time cruisers.
For January, bookings showed a 106 percent increase compared to 2009, and were up 215 percent compared to 2008. The number of first-time guests booking a Seabourn cruise in January soared 79 per cent over the same period in 2009 and 155 per cent over January in 2008, which was Seabourn's best year to date.
The boom stems from several value-added promotions combining attractive savings and, in some cases, complimentary roundtrip air transportation. But Seabourn president Pamela Conover also believes the the strong booking volume indicates the growing demand for luxury cruising, particularly for Seabourn's high-end travel experience.

New yacht is named Seabourn Quest
January 12, 2010 - The Yachts of Seabourn's newest vessel will be called Seabourn Quest when she sets sail in June 2011.

Says Seabourn president Pamela Conover: "Taken together, we believe that Odyssey, Sojourn and Quest represent the passion for adventure and discovery that spurs our guests' desire to travel in Seabourn style."

Height of luxury at World Travel Awards
November 10, 2009 - The Yachts of Seabourn has been awarded the title of World's Best Luxury Cruise Line at the 2009 World Travel Awards in London.
The awards are voted for by more than 160,000 travel tourism and hospitality professionals worldwide and represent the pinnacle of international travel trade acclaim.
Speaking of the award, Director EMEA, Andrew Magowan said: "The competition was strong, but we are thrilled that our new ship, Seabourn Odyssey, has met with those standards and we look forward to building on that success when we launch her sister ship, Seabourn Sojourn, in Greenwich next June."

Pirates force Seabourn to quit Indian Ocean
October 7, 2009 - Seabourn has abandoned a planned series of voyages in the Indian Ocean aboard Seabourn Legend in late 2010 and early 2011. Instead Legend will be repositioned back to the Americas at the end of the Mediterranean season to cruise in the Caribbean over the winter.
Calling the decision "regrettable", Seabourn's president Pamela Conover said that while the shore-side destinations were safe for visitors, the high seas routes between them were currently vulnerable to incidents of piracy that were not adequately controlled.
Conover added: "It makes me sad to have to cancel these cruises. I personally loved touring Kenya's game parks and the islands of the Seychelles, Madagascar and Zanzibar are lovely and exotic destinations where we sincerely had hoped to be able to take our guests. We look forward to a time when the sea routes are controlled enough for us to cruise there for a season."
