On-line christening then a 91-day Grand Inaugural Voyage
January 20, 2010 - Silversea Cruises' brand new flagship, Silver Spirit, has arrived at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, having completed her maiden crossing of the Atlantic.
The elegant, all-suite ship is hosting inaugural activities while in Fort Lauderdale, including an exclusive event for guests sailing on the 91-day Grand Inaugural Voyage.
And tomorrow (January 21) an invitation-only Christening Ceremony takes place and is being broadcast live on the Silver Spirit Blog on the company's website, starting at 3pm GMT. Following the event, a replay of the webcast will also be available on the website.

Silversea cooks up something new
January 13, 2010 - Silversea Cruises is introducing L'École des Chefs, a new interactive cooking school that will be featured on 11 voyages in 2010.
The Relais & Châteaux L'École des Chefs programme offers guests a special culinary curriculum and entertaining events hosted by Silversea executive chef David Bilsland.
Highlights include specialised workshops covering a range of topics from basic knife skills and kitchen terminology to sauces and baking; cooking demonstrations; lively cooking competitions; a "Lunch and Learn" event offering small groups of guests a chance to sample a delicious meal of specially prepared dishes; and inspired "Take It Home" recipes.

Silver Spirit welcomes first guests
December 23, 2009 - Silversea Cruises' newest ship, Silver Spirit, today welcomed guests for the first time.
They embarked for her maiden voyage - an 11-day Holiday Spirit cruise departing from Barcelona tomorrow and concluding in Lisbon after visiting Malaga, Gibraltar, Cadiz, Casablanca and Tangier.
At 36,000 tons, and accommodating just 540 guests, this intimate ship has the largest suites in the Silversea fleet, with 95 per cent featuring a private veranda.

Silver Spirit 2011 world debut revealed
December 14, 2009 - Silversea's new Silver Spirit will embark on a full World Cruise traversing both hemispheres for the very first time in 2011.
This grandest of voyages, appropriately themed Spirit of Discovery, begins in Los Angeles on January 19 when Silver Spirit is set to welcome no more than 540 privileged guests for a 119-day odyssey exploring 60 destinations in 25 countries - with 11 overnight port visits - before concluding in Southampton on May 19.
Along the journey, Silver Spirit will take in the tranquillity of French Polynesia, Australia's untamed landscapes, the unique customs and cultures of Asia, ancient Egyptian wonders and timeless Mediterranean hideaways spanning from Italy and Monaco to Spain and Portugal.

More UK voyages than ever in 2011
November 24, 2009 - To satisfy a growing demand from guests to book early for the best choice of cruises and fares, Silversea Cruises has launched its earliest ever launch of a full year programme.
In 2011, the company's quintet of elegant all-suite ships, Silver Cloud, Silver Wind, Silver Shadow, Silver Whisper and the new Silver Spirit, will offer 170 diverse itineraries, visiting over 335 ports in more than 100 countries and island destinations.
And a greater number of voyages than ever will depart or arrive at a UK port - 13 cruises in total, including three around the British Isles.

Silversea extends FREE flights offer in 2010
November 17, 2009 - Silversea Cruises is extending its hugely successful free economy class flights programme for voyages in 2010.
It now offers more than 100 worldwide itineraries with free flights including seven new Caribbean sailings. In addition, there are significantly reduced Business Class fares on more than 100 voyages in 2010.
Guests wishing to take advantage of these offers will need to book quickly. Cruise fares rise as the demand for voyages increases and flights are subject to the availability of Silversea's specially negotiated rates, for bookings made before December 31.

October 12, 2009 - Silversea's special collection of Grand Voyages, extending from 30 to 91 days, are designed exclusively for the traveller who relishes a more leisurely pace.

Silversea unveils summer guest speakers
June 25, 2009 - This summer and autumn Silversea invites travellers to enjoy interesting journeys hosted by noted historians, political analysts, authors, and celebrities.
The lineup of guest speakers includes the British stage, film and television actor Christopher Cazenove, Terry Hughes, former head of BBC TV Variety, news correspondent Michael Buerk and John Harrison, the British explorer and author.
Says Cliff Perry, Silversea's Director of Entertainment: "We are honoured to include such a distinguished group of guest speakers on our voyages. Our enrichment programming has always been about offering unique perspectives, and these lecturers will offer insightful views."

Single day calls record
June 5, 2009 - Silversea Cruises achieved the highest call volume day in its 15-year history on May 26, with sales soaring in the month. The single-day record occurred during a three-week period where bookings surged nearly 150per cent compared to the same period last year and average call volume for May was up almost 40 per cent in comparison with April 2009.
"This past month we saw continual spikes in booking activity that far exceeded our expectations and shows we are making excellent headway in boosting our sales," said Trudy Redfern, Silversea's Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing for UK, Ireland & Middle East. "With the launch of our new Silver Spirit just months away, the growing excitement in the marketplace for our product is certainly a contributing factor. Plus there is no doubt the value adding programmes we have implemented are helping to drive these positive booking trends. This confirms that luxury travellers appreciate value and know a great deal when they see one." The company is currently offering significant savings on all suite categories on over 50 worldwide voyages and recently expanded its popular $1,000 Onboard Spending Credit offer to 70 sailings in 2009. Free or specially priced airfare is also available on select voyages.
In addition, the booking deadline has been extended to July 31 to qualify for the $500 per person (or maximum $1,000 per suite) Onboard Spending Credit. To take advantage of the offer, which is applicable to new bookings only, guests must request promotional code WWSBC500 at the time of booking.

Fly for FREE to Europe and the Med
May 27, 2009 - Silversea Cruises is offering British travellers complimentary roundtrip economy air transportation from London and selected regional airports on 28 voyages to Europe and the Mediterranean this summer.
The free Air Programme also includes complimentary transfers bedtween airport and ship.
Furthermore, return Business Class fares now start at just £199 for selected European voyages and £1,999 for Alaskan and Caribbean voyages - representing savings of over 50 per cent. The special air incentives are being offered for a limited time.

Silversea butlers for everyone
March 18, 2009 - Silversea Cruises is raising the bar in personalised service with plans to feature butlers for all guest accommodation.
The enhanced service will be phased in gradually over the coming months. The line's newest all-suite ship, Silver Spirit, will provide butler service in all accommodation when launched in December.
"By expanding the butler service, we're essentially elevating the qualifications and calibre of our hospitality staff to ensure we continue to deliver a guest experience of unsurpassed quality," said Christian Sauleau, Executive Vice President of Fleet Operations.

Mosimann goes cooking with Silversea Cruises
February 19, 2009 - Internationally renowned chef Anton Mosimann will sail with Silversea cruise line as a guest chef in 2009 as part of the line's Culinary and Wine Series.
Mosimann will join the recently refurbished Silver Wind on a 12-day Mediterranean voyage from Istanbul to Rome, departing on October 18.
Throughout the voyage, he will share his creative expertise through special menus, cooking demonstrations and a grand gourmet dinner.

Silver Wind completes transformation
December 12, 2008 - A multi-million pound renovation of Silverseas Cruisers' Silver Wind, involving virtually every aspect of the ship, is now complete.  
During the four-week dry dock at the San Giorgio shipyard in Genoa, Italy, the comprehensive refurbishment sets a visionary course for the future with a refreshed decor embodying a sophisticated contemporary style that is warm and inviting with touches of natural cherry wood, russet and golden tones.
A centerpiece of the project is the addition of an Observation Lounge (seating 60 guests), Spa, Beauty Salon and Fitness Centre on the forward section of Deck 9, altering the ship's exterior appearance with floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap around the new space. A new two-floor, glass-enclosed elevator was also installed connecting Decks 8 and 9.

Prince Albert II itineraries revised
November 18, 2008 - Silversea's latest addition to the fleet, Prince Albert II, which was originally scheduled to reposition from Antarctica to French Polynesia for the 2009 spring and summer seasons, will now sail back to its inaugural destination - the Arctic - on June 1.
Prince Albert II will operate nine expeditions in the Arctic before heading south. The 2008-09 (and 2009-10) winter voyages will remain unchanged, exploring the Antarctic Peninsula as well as the remote islands of South Georgia and the Falklands.
In July and August this year, Prince Albert II operated four expedition voyages to the Arctic. Silversea president Amerigo Perasso said that operating in close reach of the three leading markets - United States, United Kingdom and Continental Europe - was all the more justified in the present economic climate.

Silver Spirit ... latest in a line of luxury
March 13, 2008 - Silversea's newest all-suite ship is to be called Silver Spirit.
Currently under construction at Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard in Italy, the 540-guest vessel is scheduled to join the fleet in late 2009.
Renowned Italian architect Giacomo Mortola is overseeing the design of the 36,000-ton vessel.

Prince launches new expedition era
In the heart of Monte Carlo's harbour, the expedition ship Prince Albert II officially joined the Silversea fleet on June 3, 2008, during a naming ceremony in the presence of Prince Albert II of Monaco.
Guests raised their glasses in a toast when the red and white ribbon, representing the heraldic colours of the Grimaldi family, was cut by the prince, marking the launch of a new era in expedition cruising - one that will offer authentic and respectful adventures from a base of easy-going luxury.
And, in time-honoured tradition, the dedication included a blessing of the ship by Monsignor Fabrice Gallo, Prelate of the Pope of Rome.

Fleet now 100% Wi-Fi
Silversea has expanded wireless Internet access to 100 per cent coverage throughout its four ships, enabling guests with Wi-Fi-enabled laptops and PDAs to surf the Internet and check e-mails from the comfort of their suites as well as public areas.
Through Silversea's global satellite system, guests have access to over 270 daily newspapers from the U.S. and a host of international cities, offered at a nominal fee; and BBC, CNN, Fox News and ESPN (sports news and entertainment) are on the roster of complimentary in-suite TV channels available to keep guests up to speed with developments around the world and at home.
Each Silversea ship also features Internet centres with state-of-the-art desktop computers and 17-inch flat screen monitors. Pricing for Internet use on the ship's computers is the same as for using personal laptops and includes a variety of convenient rate plans.

Online beauty and tours
Silversea guests can use its website to book spa and beauty treatments and shore excursions in advance.
The new My Voyage feature also gives guests easy access to itinerary information for their specific voyage, a virtual tour of the ship, and the ability to register online for early embarkation.
